Yes, you should see the JSON in the browser. If it's unintelligible, the first thing to check would be your CCSID.

and bigCharVar has the correct data.
My understanding at the moment is that I need a web service server with a named & deployed rest service. That server needs to be assigned a port and has to be running. Then, if I point any modern browser at that port + /name-of-deployed-service, I should get the raw JSON data showing on my screen?
