The SPECIAL exit routine is written in mainframe assembler. Thus,
the INFDS doesn't do me any good. Even if it wasn't written in assembler,
my desire was to allow the calling RPG program to use *less* than the
maximum record length. So, if there were anything equivalent to the INFDS
in the SPECIAL exit routine I don't think it would reflect the length used
by the caller. However, I do think that the SPECIAL exit interface is
missing this feature -- not that it would ever be added *now* at this late
date. ;-) But, thanks for trying to be helpful anyway.
