I have two subfiles; each one with:

CTLFLD 1Y 0H SFLCHCCTL

In each subfile I loop through the subfile with a chain, looking for selected rows (value = 1).

Subfile 1 works as expected; subfile 2 shows every chain as selected, regardless of that row's value of CTLFLD. Other fields in the row read as expected.
