Hey Javier,

I found that the regex C library on IBM i is compatible with PCRE - used in
Pearl, PHP and SQL REGEXP_REPALCE etc.

so when you test your regex, you can use https://regex101.com/ and select
PCRE as flavor.

Maybe someone can confirm this...

Another thing I came across is that the regex string have to be in CCSID
37, or set by locale. This can trigger that you backslash is not detected
and will be interpreted as a straight up char. which means you macth looks
for the "backslas d" combination and not the digits

As far as I remember - I have used the \d but can not find an example. It
works in PCRE.

Good day everyone.

I am using C/C++ Runtime Library's regexec() function(s), called from ILE
RPG programs.
Documentation tells this complies with the POSIX regex engine syntax. Can
someone let me know, please, where is probably the best documentation about
the exact syntax that regexec() will match a regular expression, in terms
of POSIX compliance?

I've found some comments about shortcuts not being supported. For example,
"\d+" is supposedly not supported, and instead one should use "[0-9]+".
But, if I use the former regex, regcomp() compiles ok, but regexec() does
not match any single digit sequence like "123456789", until I use "[0-9]+"
. I think if it's not supported, regcomp() it shouldn't even succeed.

It's very likely this may not be the place to ask. Please advise also if
so.

Thanks in advance.
