I'm afraid I'm not familiar with a "zero terminated string"


It is just two ways of describing the same thing... The "null"
terminated string is terminated by a binary zero byte. A binary zero byte
is a data stream control character that is assigned the label "null".
"null" has a different meaning and appliation in the SQL world.
