Just a follow-up for the archives...

IBM confirmed:
"Yes, multiple jobs (and threads) can call the QUSADDUI API at the same
time.
The API gets a thread-scoped *SHRUPD lock on the user index before doing the
insert.

Remove User Index Entries (QUSRMVUI) also gets a thread-scoped *SHRUPD lock
on
the user index, so you could use both API's at the same time from multiple
jobs
or threads."

All,

Considering using a "permanent" user index (*USRIDX) as a cache for some
values retrieved from a web service call.

Question, does a user index support concurrent access/updates?

Specifically, can multiple jobs call the Add User Index Entries (QUSADDUI)
API at the same time?

It's marked threadsafe, so I suppose the answer must be yes. But there's
nothing in the documentation about how concurrency is handled.

I've never used a user index in this manner, so just looking for
confirmation that this should work fine.

Thanks!
