For the avoidance of doubt and just to be pedantic. Converting (old)
RPG/400 code to (new syntax) RPG IV is not the same proposition as
converting to ILE. The former does not imply the latter.
Converting source code should be straightforward, (possibly
time-consuming if no tools are employed) and makes sense if that code is
undergoing significant changes anyway.
On the other hand, moving to ILE does require a change to design and
application structure; understandably this is less appropriate for
mature applications and more suited to new projects.
Just wanted to be clear that although RPG IV is an ILE language, you are
not required to employ ILE features. Some managers need educating.
