Never mind. I figured it out. I am using a MAIN program with a Main
procedure so I had to move the data structure to the global memory and it
compiled fine. When it was in local variables for the Main procedure it saw
them as new local variables.

Why do you think it is not working?

Why does this not work? I seem to vaguely remember that IBM changed
something to cause mapping to an external source. Fields O_BADROUT1 to 8
are defined in a display file.
dcl-ds *N;
O_BADROUT1;
O_BADROUT2;
O_BADROUT3;
O_BADROUT4;
O_BADROUT5;
O_BADROUT6;
O_BADROUT7;
O_BADROUT8;
BadRoutes Like(O_BADROUT1) Dim(8) Pos(1);
end-ds;
