I used MDT in a SFL program in which you could enter data in a SFL field. On that field was prompting possible.

If you prompted and returned with a value, the SFL record was not marked as "changed". Using DSPATR(MDT) and turning on the related indicator does mark that SFL record as "changed".

Nice trick!

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that there is no use for the MDT, or PC attributes. In fact, there are many! But asserting that "virtually all entry programs" (need to) make use of it just seems incorrect.
