I have a simple RPG program that a vendor wrote that is like a DFU.
I am trying to add validation to the program but find that the field I am
checking is protected. By that I mean there is no PROTECT at field or
record
level.
However, when I go into the program in debug, I change the value of the
field on screen but the value retained in the program is the original
value.
The field name is the same as the physical file so there is no chance I
missed moving values.
I also see the program uses WRITE followed by READ instead of using EXFMT.
I
hope this is not the reason.
Why does the system not use the keyed in values?
