Around 1996/1997 I had to familiarize myself with a set of long, convoluted RPG III program so I could make some changes.

I used the compile listing with INDENT('| '). That's vertical bar and a blank but you can use just a vertical bar.

It gives you an excellent visual representation of subroutines and the conditionals. I printed the compile listings (on green bar) and wrote analysis notes on the listings. Ended up with about a foot of green bar on my shelf.

Old technique, but it worked. And the INDENT keyword still works on RPG.

Hi,

How to quickly prepare a flow chart of all the subroutines used inside a
RPGLE program which is on the SEU and RDi is not available to analyze
interconnected very long RPGLE programs.
