%scanrpl is one possibility

Best regards

%SCANRPL only handles one string at a time, so to handle 5 unwanted characters would need 5 %SCANRPL.

To handle several characters, I would first use %XLATE to change all the unwanted characters to one of the unwanted characters, and then use %SCANRPL to remove them.

string = 'A.b-,c%d''';
// string = "A.b-,c%d'"

tempstring = %xlate('.-,%''' : '.....' : string);
// tempstring = "A.b..c%d."

newstring = %scanrpl('.' : '' : tempstring);
// newstring = "Abcd"
