We developed a feature that , (when a user executes an option) that informs
the user
(displays a small screen) that the job was submitted to batch.(and expect
an email)
this is done by calling a small RPG program that checks screen size and
displays
a screen on the bottom line.
However, sometimes, the calling PGMs run in a batch jobs themselves.
Hence the need to check in an RPG program if it is run in batch or
interactive job.
So performance issues are not an issue here.
In that small RPG programm I call a small(er) utility of mine (GET1SQLVAL)
that receives an SQL statement and returns one resulting value.
so no need to use exec SQL either.
Well, not so short after all
If only I had this hallucinated JOB TYPE in the PSDS ...
I guess I will try opening an idea...
TIA
