I know I am repeating David Wright, but you should consider using VA-RPG
instead of VB.

VA-RPG can access DB/2 files, ODBC files and PC files all in one program.
It doesn't *seem* to read the DB/2 files using ODBC, but it may behind the
scenes. It seems to be fairly quick.

VA-RPG is my first choice for getting AS/400 DB2 data to a PC, or ODBC data
on a PC into the AS/400. I have written a series of VA-RPG programs that
get an exported PC Btrieve file, import it to an AS/400 DB2 file, then an
AS/400 program that does some manipulation, then a VA-RPG file that imports
from another DB2 file into an Access database.

Yes, VB is faster to write code in than VA-RPG, but in this case VA-RPG has
the tools you are looking for.

Stuart / Dan,
Many thanks for the information. What I'm trying to do is access single
AS/400 records in real-time. Essentially a stock inquiry program
written in Vb. ODBC won't perform in that circumstance so I'm trying to
find a technique that will. Has anyone done this for real?

Thanks again,

Neil.
