If it is programmer compiles that are killing you, then you should consider 
moving him to the Websphere Development Tools (or WDSC, or whatever the newest 
name of the week is).

WDT is included free if you have PDM, and it allows you to move development to 
the PC.  The programmer can do his work, verify that it is bug free, THEN do a 
compile.  Very system friendly.
