Don Would you believe, I actually found those. But the ILE C for AS/400 Run-Time Library Reference is not there. And this is the manual that has the native IO library functions documented. This 4th manual gives you the includes for each function, with various examples and usage info. The 3 manuals you have are not enough, unless they have this information somewhere. In InfoCenter, there are these 4 manuals listed under Programming->C and C++. (I'm not asking for the MI Library reference, although I think it'd be great.) We're a business partner with IBM, and we do all our development in C and CL. Because C is the best thing for the kinds of tools we write. But your tools appear to be giving C/C++ short shrift. (1) You don't have all the documentation (2) You don't have a verifier - used to have, in Visual Age C++, so you COULD get it again (please) (3) you don't have context-sensitive help for keywords or library functions - Visual Studio (Microsoft) does A lot of these things are there for RPG and COBOL and even CL - but not for C/C++. F1 does not give me any Help in CODE/400. And I won't use the LPEX editor, not until it gets the CODE functionality. Thanks Vern At 09:57 AM 10/16/02 -0400, you wrote:
Vern, These are a little bit (okay quite a bit) hidden in WDSc v4.0. From the workbench: 1. Switch to the help perspective (or select the Help->Help Contents menu item from any other perspective) 2. From the help drop down, select the "Development Studio Client" topic. 3. Near the bottom left corner of the workbench window you will see three tabs titled "Components", "Classic Tools" and "Search". Select the classic tools tab. 4. Expand "CODE" in the tree and you will find a tree item for each language. Expand the language you are interested in to see all the online documents. Or, from the CODE Editor: - While you are editing your C, RPG, COBOL, ... file press F1 from within the Editor and you will be linked to the language reference. You know, like memset, printf, etc. What am I missing? Language Reference, Programming Guide, and Compiler Reference don't seem to have these things. Thanks Vern Hamberg
