Unfortunately the help for the template support is pretty minimal. We'll have to do more work on that. The free-form restriction was made because there are a number of technical issues that need consideration beyond that scope and there was not enough time to deal with them appropriately in the release. The code that you put in your template doesn't effect how it is processed at the code-assist level. I suspect that the editor going wacky has something to do with the parser or syntax checker having problems with the inserted code. If you've got time, could you try doing the insertion (comments included) with syntax checking off? And secondly, why are the restrictions there? Don't you think I would find out sooner or later that I was missing a semi-colon or that I missed out on a /End-Free? Or maybe those things are included in my Template like in my code example below. If I type in 'fo' and <CTL + SPACE> then I get the list of FOR loops, and if I back space the 'fo' and type a 's' I see my 'subproc' in the Code Assist window. If I select it the editor goes wacky. . . I think it is going wacky because of the comment lines I have in it because when I take the comments lines out of Template 'subproc' everything works fine. Are you using this outside of a free-form block, before column 8, within a comment or after a semi-colon? ____________________________________ David McKnight Phone: 905-413-3902 , T/L: 969-3902 Internet: dmcknigh@xxxxxxxxxx Mail: D1/643/8200/TOR ____________________________________ "Bartell, Aaron L. The only thing is I can't get it to work on a consistent basis. Here is the scenario: - I created a Template called 'subproc' and it looks like the following. . . //-------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- // @Name - // @Author - Aaron Bartell // @Description - // @Usage - //-------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- P ... P B D ... D PI /Free Return; /End-Free P ... P E - I then went back to my RPGILE editor and tried to use it by typing in "subproc <CTL + SPACE>". Sometimes it puts in the code and sometimes it doesn't. If I hit <CTL + SPACE> many times (out of frustration) and then hit <BACK SPACE> to start deleting "subproc" the editor goes wacko on me and starts to delete one line above where the "subproc" code was. And if I hit <CTL + SPACE> too much it completely locks up my keyboard in the LPEX editor (not my mouse) yet I can go and edit an XML document just fine in the Eclipse text editor. Is there a bug in Code Assist that we should know about?
