Jim, >>Why did it not use the cached version I had it download? >>Can I make it show the cached information instead of trying to go to the iSeries? >>Can I have it connect if there is a network connection, and if not use the cache? There are effectively three modes that an RSE connection can be in; disconnected, connected and offline. The program verifiers use the cache in all three modes for performance reasons. The RSE tree view, table view and other tools use the cache only in offline mode. So if you are using the RSE without a network connection then you should put it in offline mode (from the pulldown menu in the Systems view (this is the upside down triangle) select iSeries -> Caching -> Work Offline. >> Can I drag and drop the field names or alias names from a table view to an editor? Not yet ;) >>What _can_ I do with the cached file descriptions? See answer to #1. The program verifiers always use this information and others tools use it when offline. >> Are any of these issues addressed in V5.1 that I need to order from my BP? The caching was almost completely overhauled for v5.1 so it would be best to upgrade to it.
