Kelly,

Yes, the Error List will not appear if the log files remain. Normally, the
log file is processed, deleted, and then the Error List is populated (the
first line of the log file has the events file name that gets popuplated in
the Error List).

Please turn on additional logging messages.
- In Windows>Preferences, select Remote Systems>Logging and pick 'errors,
warnings, and information messages'.
- Edit the rsecomm.properties file in
c:\wdsc\iseries\eclipse\plugins\com.ibm.etools.systems.universal_<version>\serverruntime
 directory. Change 'debug_level=0' to 'debug_level=3'.
You will need to restart the product.

Then just try the scenarios again and send me (esimpson@xxxxxxxxxx) two log
files. One is the .log file in your workspace's .metadata directory. The
other is rsecomm.log in your c:\documents and
settings\<userid>\.eclipse\.rse.

Thanks,
Eric

I think I see a relationship. Every so often and then I compile a program
and the Error List view does not appear. The Command Log window appears and
tells me the program compiled okay. But the Error List view just never
comes. I can turn around and immediately compile it again and the Error
List
view appears.

Since I deleted the logs, there has only been one program where the Error
List view failed to appear after compiling. I successfully compiled a CLP
named SA392J_TKC. The Command Log view showed the program object was
created. However, the Error List view never appeared. And here is the
content of the one and only log that has accumulated:

KELLY2/EVFEVENT(SA392J)
>CRTCLPGM PGM(KELLY2/SA392J) SRCFILE(SOURCE/QCLSRC) SRCMBR(SA392J_TKC)
OPTION(*SRCDBG)
<00 CPC0815 Program SA392J created in library KELLY2.
<<Cause . . . . . : See the compiler printout for a list of any messages.
Recovery . . . : If necessary, correct the errors.

The logs appear to accumulate for those instances in which the Error List
view does not appear.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Kelly

Kelly,

The log files are supposed to be deleted automatically. Just delete the
ones that are there and let me know if you see log files starting to
accumulate after that.

Our system administrator pointed out a large number of logs in an IFS
folder
generated by WDSCi.

The logs were in the Root/home/KCOOKSON/.eclipse/RSE directory in the IFS.
The logs were named SBM00099.log where the '99' was a sequential number
(SBM00011.log, SBM00012.log, etc.). They appeared to contain messages about
program compiles and source member copies.

How do I turn off this logging function? If I can't turn it off, can WDSCi
delete the logs so only a few recent logs remain?

Also, while in the RSE perspective, I went to IFS Files > Root file system
>
home > KCOOKSON, but the directory would not expand to show me the .eclipse
directory or the RSE directory. I can drill down in other IFS directories
as
deeply as I want. It just acts like the KCOOKSON directory is empty.

Is this a design feature or a bug?

Thanks,
Kelly
