[WDSCI-L] another session running error

Is there a solution for the "Another session is already running in the
associated workspace...." startup error other than rebooting.  I've
never seen a .lock file in the /workspace/.metadata directory, so I've
never had the opportunity to delete it.  Sometimes this happens when I
had trouble shutting down a previous session, and sometimes it happens
when the previous session seemed to have shut down normally.
