What would be cool is if you could schedule updates to download automatically and then choose when to install them. Similar to how Microsoft does it with Windows Update. Even with a 6MB down DSL line it still takes about 3-5 seconds per MB which adds up fast. . .Listen to me, I never thought I would be complaining about 3-5 seconds to download 1MB. Wow how times have changed :-) Aaron Bartell -----Original Message----- From: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of James O'Sullivan Sent: Thursday, February 16, 2006 4:10 PM To: Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries Subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] How long upgrade to 6.0.1 from 6.0 Hi Raymond, if you have to download the RWD 6.0.1.1 upgrades as well as the WDSC 6.0.1, its about 1GB, most of which is the RWD part. I was already up to date with RWD, so only had to download the WDSC parts and that took about 45 mins over my work internet connection. There are a few more steps if you are going to install the WDSC Lite option and that can take another hour or 2 depending on your desktop capabilities. But if you are going for WDSC Lite, its worth it , the improvement in startup time and response time is most apparent. I am running on a 1GB RAM and 1.6GHz thinkpad and along with everything else I have running on it (courtesy of our Desktop Services division), the full WDSC product crawled. I get a lot more done these days with Lite. regards James O'Sullivan Senior Technical Consultant email: josulli4@xxxxxxx Office: +44 1252 536681 Fax: +44 1252 534022 www: www.csc.com Based at: Tower 2, Floor 2, Royal Pavilion, Wellesley Road, Aldershot, Hampshire, GU11 1PZ CSC Corporation Limited: No. 1812179.
