Do you have the latest iFixes?  I do not see this behaviour at 6.0.1.2. 
The only way I can cause a similar result is to click the actual file name 
itself (which I believe is the intended behaviour).  If I just 
expand/collapse the tree, the editor position is not changed.  If I 
clicked on one of the field names, then positioned the editor, then 
collapsed the tree for that file, the file name becomes selected and the 
source repositions.  I'm not sure whether or not that is intended.
