Violaine,

Actually, after I sent my question I found the real reason.  I had the 
member open for browse, which is why it couldn't do the in-place conversion. 
I have to change my working methods to copy the code into the member I'm 
working with first and then convert it.  However, it would be nice if it 
indicated why it can't convert the code, for either the reason that you give 
below or because the member is open for browse rather than edit.
