VARPG source can be stored on any server, including the IFS if you want.  We 
keep ours on our general PC file server.  The created objects are ordinary 
PC files: .exe, .dll, etc.  From my limited knowledge, I don't see why 
SubVersion wouldn't work with it, but we haven't tried it.  We only have one 
legacy VARPG app, and we're not actively developing it.  There are only 2 of 
us authorized to touch it and the other guy doesn't do coding anymore, so as 
long as I don't screw it up no one cares. ;)

We deploy our VARPG app via our Citrix server, which avoids all the issues 
with updating PCs when we do make the occasional change.  If you have that 
option, you should try it.
