Hi Bill,
I believe you are referring to APAR SE25187
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3239&context=SSZND2&dc=DB550
&q1=sql&uid=swg1SE25187&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en
The answer (as you point out) indicates that the problem will be fixed
in a
future release.
It doesn't mention which one - because the fix is not yet available (I'm
sorry to say). When that has been determined, I will be updating the
answer to indicate exactly which release the fix will be available.

I was under the impression that V7 addressed the bug of an embedded
SQL
statement with IF/ENDIF. V7 doesn't convert fixed to free any
different
than V6. I got one of those emails from IBM when I submitted the bug
report telling me that the results could not be duplicated in a future
release. Is V7 not a future compare to V6? Or is it one of those IBM
"features"?
Tried to do an update, it came back with 3 updates available. The
first
and the third said I didn't have the feature installed and the middle
one went through the process and then said this module is considered
non-updateable. Plus the fact that I kept getting asked what download
site I wanted to go to. I really don't care what download site is
used.
I don't need updates for features I don't have loaded or for modules
that can't be updated.
What is the advantage of V7 over V6 other than it does load fast?
Thanks

The top part of the APAR says
APAR status
Closed as unreproducible in next release.
It is way down at the bottom that it says "future release".

subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] Installing V7
Did you reboot after you uninstalled WDSCi?
No I didn't. Not right away anyway. On the first attempt I did the
install and then chose locate and install updates. I left and when I
came back I assumed that it was finished and tried to open RSE and it
came up with the IBM equivalent of the Blue Screen of Death. That is
when I rebooted to no avail. After, finally, getting it installed on
the 4th attempt I tried the update process. That was a cruel joke. The
locater asked me if I wanted to run in background and I said yes. It
then proceeded to do pop-ups asking me what server I wanted to search.
I really didn't care and didn't know. I think this happened about 6
times. It finally came up with 3 updates. 2 of them informed me that
the feature was not installed and the 3rd said the module was considered
not updateable. I then found out that a bug that was reported back in
April of 2006 still was not repaired and that some of the little things
I was used to had been changed or eliminated. I decided to chuck the
whole mess and go back to V6. Since I have limited DASD (40GB) I don't
have the luxury of keeping both versions. V7 didn't fix what I was
looking for, and doesn't seem to update. I uninstalled it and will now
stay in V6 for the foreseeable future. I am glad it didn't cost us much
to get it, because it has turned out to be a waste of time.
Thanks for the reply
Bill
