If that application uses STRSRVJOB, then it is probably using the 
TRCJOB EXITPGM().  That exit program feature is no longer available in 
v5r4; TRCJOB in that release is since implemented via STRTRC.  An 
essentially equivalent capability was activated in an API [¿name?] to 
replace the /loss of function/ that was previously available by the 
service/trace feature.
  STRSRVJOB is allowed in a batch job.  I have used it to perform 
unattended debug and trace.  One example was to have a breakpoint 
program be activated, to both log debug data and request that its 
servicing job end & restart the trace [if some particular data did not 
transpire at the breakpoint] across a group of active server jobs.  When 
the number of jobs gets over three [even two], each new interactive 
session started solely as a servicing job, has me thinking /automation/.
