I have not successfully deployed anything. I tried, using what documentation I could find and my best guess, but have been unsuccessful.

I am now trying to ensure that I am exporting the correct things from EGL. I assume that I need to export the project that ends in "EAR" as an EAR file. Is that correct? Is that the only thing?
