Seems to be working this morning, but I have not done anything since last night except power down my local PC (which I tried yesterday too). Remote system was not IPL'd, so I am at a loss as to why WDSC would hang up on saving the remote source member yesterday, but does not today (so far anyway). Still looking for any ideas as to what might have caused this problem for future reference.

V5R3. This has worked previously and I think works periodically now
(something frees it up and it will save). But mostly WDSC just goes
into "Not Responding" mode.
