I frequently need to refer to one screen (a manual, web page, 5250 session, 
etc.) while working in another.  When I only have 1 display, I have to 
alt-tab a lot more, and it's harder to keep everything straight while 
jumping back and forth.  With 2 displays it's much easier and therefore 
saves time.

I do have to say that if you can't arrange the screens so they're 
comfortable to look at and set things so that mouse and cursor movements are 
natural, it can be annoying.
