Of course, I could start searching documentation, but how do you go about clearing the cache?

Every time you verify and/or refresh outline view it will retrieve all
needed external definitions, copy files etc. It will slow outline
refresh horribly. Better to leave it unchecked and simply clear the
cache when it slows down - better that than always slow.

Real cure of course is to upgrade to RDP!
