Objet : Re: [WDSCI-L] Beginners Advice Requested (Thank you)

Thanks to everyone who had some suggestions for me. I really
appreciate it. Those suggestions will give me a good place
to start. Sounds like the best option may be to try and get
my hands on the WDSCi v7 discs. And thanks for the link to
the redbook for v5.1.

I'm going to get this thing to work if it kills me. Don't be
surprised if you see some additional entry-level type
questions from me in the future.

At last, someone with an older version than me!
Ray, if by <this thing> you mean V5.1, then it probably will kill you. 90% of all the replies to my posts on this list are advising me on upgrading, but I'm still stuck on V6.1. More and more bits get broken off as our OS continues to get updated : we are now on V6R1 and I can only use half the functions that should be available. If your OS is older, maybe you will get more mileage out of your V5.1. But oh, how I remember how I had to continually create and switch workspaces that became no longer usable. Even lost work when the program crashed suddenly without warning. That taught me to work with finger and thumb continually poised over ctrl + S :-)

More seriously, as it was said in this thread, V5.1 was not really a usable product. Our whole team was trained in the basics of this new tool about 6 years ago. Its a great pity that it was V5.1 because that is why almost no one uses it. If we ever get RDP, that'll be because the green screen is finally too far behind, and then the learning curve is going to be steep.
