You CAN copy to a different connection - I just did it this morning. I did it both by dragging a SAVF from one connection to a library (not filter) on the other one. And I did it by right-clicking and clicking Copy, then going to the other library and right-clicking and clicking paste.

I can't see how you would be able to paste anything in a library filter - or a filter of any kind. How does the system know which object IN the filter to paste into. Maybe an object filter that has only a single library in its filter strings. But even that is chancy.

I learned always to drop or paste into a library itself.

The Move... option opens up a box where you pick the library to put something into. And maybe it works for moving a source member, too - I believe I've done that.

This stuff doesn't work quite as we expect from the way Windows does things, does it?

Now I tried the Move, and it did not show me any other connections - although I had 2 that were connected. This was in WDSC AE 7.0

Ah, that would seem to confirm that u can't copy to another connection. Clicking move opens a box where u select the target from the same connection as the source. Added another filter to my connection with the target library. Now I can drag and drop within the same connection.

I wonder if my pools and filters are set up as efficiently as they might be. If I create a new connection, I get the same default filter pool automatically. Inside are filters based on the *curlib, so I don't have to change them. I just set the *curlib on the connection when I create it. Then I instantly have access to everything in that library, which usually corresponds to a development library. I have another filter pool with filters with hard coded library names for stuff outside the development library that I don't normally need to show.

David,
So what happens when you right click on the PGM and select
Move from the context menu?
