Is the performance increase for installing outside of windows' protected folders noticeable in everyday coding/compiling usage?

Sorry - nothing definitive on that front. It was a long time ago and it was just "a feeling" - I did not attempt any analysis. I only use Windows to run RDP so had very little interest in exploring its nuances.
