Thanks! That was it, I was documenting some of the preferences that I like, and I had turned that one on! Turning it off, UNCHECKED, solved my problem!

I would suspect that Column sensitive editing is activated in preferences
Remote Systems / Remote Systems LPEX Editor (that page itself, not one of
its subcategory).
