The common vernacular: The connection is not [yet] established.

Although I myself tend to favour Chuck's terminology, I feel Michael's
pain. The item in the RSE tree is a Connection. Among the actions I
can perform on that item, 'Connect' and 'Disconnect' can be seen.

Sometimes, we need to know when to deploy the official terminology
(Connection is not connected) and sometimes we need to know when to use
more common terminology (Connection not established).

Finding good names is hard.
