If changing the field immediately updates the outline, then you have it on.
The outline view selection does not automatically track the cursor position
in the editor.  Typical use case if that people use the outline view to
find the field they want and explore the references to it, and don't want
to lose their place when cursoring around.

How do I turn it on? I've been googling and searching the help text and I
can't seem to find it anywhere.
If drill down into the outline and select a field for example, and change
the field, it changes in the outline.  But if I move my cursor in the
editor
to another field the outline doesn't move to the new field.
