Mike,

The problem sounds similar, but everything is fine when I shut down and
restart. It's when I do a 'Reset Perspective...' that I lose everything.
The log entries I see in the Eclipse but are different. I don't know if
the problems are related or not. I tried it this morning and all the
icons disappeared. So I switched to another perspective, closed my custom
perspective and reopened it. That recovered everything this time. I
could open a PMR (or SR) if it helps--let me know. If you think it's the
eclipse bug, I can post a description of my problem and attach the log to
that bug report.

Since I got a newer PC recently, it seems to fix it simply opening another
perspective and then switching back. So it's now much less of a
problem--just an irritation.

Here's my log from the first time I tried 'Reset Perspective...' this
morning (before switching to another perspective and back):

Does this cover it? Actually it is an Eclipse bug...

Subject: [WDSCI-L] View icons disappearing
Sent by: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx

I've been perplexed by a problem from time to time. I wanted to check
if
anyone else has seen this before I open a PMR.

I've got a custom perspective setup. In it, I've set up several
"groups"
of the various views I use. I these up by dragging the tabs for views
to
a group of other views. For the sake of simplicity, I call these "View
Groups"--I don't know if there's an official name for them. I keep
almost
all of the views except the editor and outline minimized. I've saved
the
perspective with my own name. From time to time something gets messed
up
in the perspective. If I choose Window, Reset Perspective..., the
perspective is reset, but all the icons for the minimized View Groups go
away. Sometimes I can't recover the perspective no matter what. Other
times if I close the perspective and reopen it, everything is back to
normal.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or more importantly, has anyone got
an
idea how to consistently be able to reset a perspective?

Thanks
