Hmmm... I just do a rr13 or something like that on the first and last line that need shifting, and hit enter. Everything moves right over. No blocking, no Alt-F8. RDi never reformats my code. Will it resolve the copy and paste issue going from System i Navigator SQL to RDi? I do almost all of my SQL development in Navigator and after I have it working I copy and paste it into RDi. RDi shifts everything after the first line all the way to the left so I have to block the lines and do Alt/F8 to shift the code where I want it. Then it seems like I always have to remove the space(s) between the SQL "keyword(s)" (Select, When, Order By, Group By, etc.) and the rest of the statement to get RDi to quit reformatting the code, even though I have all the preferences for Free-form SQL formatting unchecked). So, can I develop in Navigator, copy it to Notepad++, and then copy from there to RDi to resolve these formatting issues? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- message: 1 date: Fri, 8 May 2015 12:04:28 +0000 from: Scott Johnson <Scott.Johnson@xxxxxxxxxxx> subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] Next release To expand on Mike's email.... The copy / paste options in RDi are more expansive than in most Windows apps because you can do the columnar copy/paste using the Alt keys. I do believe this has been available in the IDE since the CODE/400 days on OS/2 (Miss that OS). Alt+ R = Mark Area (Upper corner and then again for lower corner) Alt + C = Copy into new area Alt + M = Move into new area Alt + Z = "Overlay" into new area I was very excited the day I found out Notepad++ can also do columnar copy/paste. I will sometimes "mock-up" a bunch of code in Notepad++ before putting it into RDi just to save myself from having to deal with the verifier messages as I move things around. Thanks, Scott Johnson
