You'll see 127.0.0.1 localhost type urls in the help regardless of whether
the content originates locally or remotely. When content originates from a
remote server, it's passed through the local help system. Those urls can't
be used to determine whether it's local or remote help that's being
presented. With the preferences you're listing as Enabled, the RDi help is
configured to come from the remote server.

So how does one know for a fact that I am using the local help verse IBM
hosted help? I'm at 9.5.x and I do not have local help server configured.
I copied my 9.1.x workspace to my 9.5.x version. When I go to help I can
see the help window status bar reporting linking to a localhost address and
port.
If I am using the local host I would hate to see it switched to the IBM
hosted version as the current help is IMO slow to respond.

Hi Brian. The 'Install New Software' method adds the content to the
existing help system. So there's not a new server added or to add to the
help preferences.

James, very much appreciate your response.
I have already followed these instructions. I installed the Local Help as
detailed, however when looking at the Preferences > Help > Content no Local

I was getting “Unavailable Site” appearing on the Welcome help page.
However, I have followed your suggestion; I disabled the two IBM site URL’s
and the 127.0.0.1 URL. The Help does seem to work. So I guess the Local
Help is now somehow “built in” to RDi 9.5 and a URL for Local Help is no
longer required?
(The “Unavailable Site” messages were misdirecting me, I think. Very
confusing.)

Has anyone tried setting up the Local Help facility within RDi 9.5?
Once upon a time we had the choice during the RDi install to determine
where the Help came from, (internet, intranet or local). Now there is no
install choice with RDi 9.5. For Local Help there is now instead a
post-install step to complete. (Download a ZIP archive from an IBM server
and install this using the standard Eclipse Install New Software for
plug-ins.) So far, so good.
I have looked in the Preferences > Help > Content and added a new Help site
(URL
http://127.0.0.1:63650/help) It don’t work – “Unavailable Site”.
So is my URL wonky, or do I need to do something else, someplace?
(Everywhere I have searched refers to the pre-9.5 way of doing things.)
Ummm .... grateful for any ... help?
