One of my customers has us using RDP through a gateway. The last couple of years it has gotten very flaky - yesterday my connection dropped about 6 times, other days it drops 20-30 times, and regardless of how often, it's always disruptive.

They're planning to move remote workers to a VPN, and the ones that have switched like its reliability and speed.

Hi,

many developers I talk to complain that working with RDi when using it over
VPN is very tedious, as all actions in RDi run very slowly.

Does anyone have any idea if RDi performance can be improved when using VPN?

I am also thinking about a Windows Server with Remote Desktop Services and
RDi installed. Here the developers could connect to the Windows Server via
RDP and then work with RDi in the local network. This should actually allow
developers working via VPN to work with RDi with good performance. This will
cost extra money, but certainly less than if the developers always have to
wait for an action to finish in RDi. Has anyone ever implemented something
like this?
