Jack is correct in Roseta 2 is required to run on M1 chips on Sonoma.

The reddit on MacOSBeta mentioned that intel apps may crash on an upgrade to Sonoma. It suggest you reinstall Rossetta 2 from the terminal using:

softwareupdate --install-rosetta

But there are other issues in macOS 14.0 that are being fixed in macOS 14.1. (The running app name will be "New Application name" and the splash screen will be presented upside-down.)

I just drilled all the way down to do a query on compatibility (Hint: Use "RDi" as the search term) starting at
https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity/index.html
And guess what. M1 isn't on the support list. Maybe Rosetta?
