Title: RE: Info on using ASP to read DB2 on AS400
A couple of things come to mind. If you have an active job and you want to keep _that_ job's joblog, just change the job to log(4 00 *SECLVL) and it will keep the joblog. However, if you want to do this for all jobs you'll have to change the job description. This job seems to use QZBSJOBD in QSYS as the job description. You could change that jobd to log(4 00 *SECLVL) but that may (would) effect other client access server jobs. I don't know what other jobs use that job description, but the text on the jobd is "Client Access Host Server Job Description"

Thank you, Walden. I found the job. I noticed that the messages disappear once the job finishes. Is there anyway I can make the log stay out there even after the job completes ?

There should be a QZDASOINIT job for each connection from your server. Look at the job log for that job. At least that is the job for Hit Software's OLE/DB driver but I think it uses the same 400 side components as the IBM drivers.

Walden,

I checked the log and could only see what time the job entered the subsystem (QSERVER). According to the log the job is still active. But ASP comes back with the error I stated earlier. Is there any other way I can get a detailed log ?

Thanks in advance.
Sushama

The command object shouldn't make a difference. Execute is a valid method on the connection object. Of course I'm not sure why the command object is in the mix, but it's not hurting anything.

Sushama, have you checked the AS/400 joblog for the connection? You'll find the joblog to be the best source of debugging information when these things occur.

It looks like you're trying to call execute on your connection object instead of your command object.

I am getting the following error and cannot figure out why:
IBMDA400 Command error '80004005'
CWBDB0036 - Server returned SQL error
/sush/agentwatch.asp, line 38

Here is a part of my code:
<%
Dim cn
Dim cm
Dim rs
Set cn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
cn.Open "Provider=IBMDA400; Data Source=AS400;", "abc", "xyz"
Set cm = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
Set cm.ActiveConnection = cn
cm.Properties("Updatability") = 0
cm.CommandType = adCmdText
strsql = "Select * from spil/pdbagent "
set rs = cn.Execute (strsql)                    <<--- line 38
%>

I guess it has something to do with the library/file not being recognized.
In an earlier example I had used :
cm.CommandText = "/QSYS.LIB/SPIL.LIB/PBDAGENT.FILE(*FIRST, *NONE)"
cm.CommandType = adCmdTable
Set rs = cm.Execute
But I wanted to use SQL instead. I would highly appreciate it if someone could point out to me how to do this.
Thank you in advance.
Sushama
