Hi all,

Can we do Servlet programming on the AS400 using Apache web server without
an app server ? We are in the process of beginning web development and were
planning to use WebSphere std edition as the app server. But we don't want
to be charged for it in the later versions. So I was wondering if we can
eliminate the application server layer altogether for servlet programming,
or does a Servlet run in the app server layer.

Also, I would appreciate some advice on a good source (not expensive) for
learning web programming using Java.

Thanks in advance.
