Nope, don't have it in one application that I've written
yet.  And, if I ever need it, I'll do it then.
Besides of the sample that replaces < with &lt;:

When you want to pass parms via a link (= GET method) to another page, like
href="display?a=1".

Whenever you have special chars as value for "a" you need such a routine.
