Hi Anton,

Thanks. I actually got help from Mzll103 on the midrangedotcom chat room
yesterday. IE5 does allow me to view the certificate; the problem was
terminology. The error message refers to the site name; the MS certificate
view refers to an "Issued to:" name, or if you check the "Subject" details,
the CN (Common Name). That gives one side of it.

The other side was what I was misunderstanding. Since the message said "name
of the site", for some reason I started looking at my host table, then the
server name in the Apache configuration, etc. -- it didn't occur to me it
was referring to the URL. Once I got that through my head, it was simple to
issue a correct certificat.

the name of the site."

Had this today as we renewed our certificate and swapped from
assoftw.avenum.com to www.avenum.com in the certificate.

AFAIK: The client compares the value from the certificate, e.g.
www.mysite.com with the name from a DNS request for the IP. So when this
delivers e.g. myserver.mysite.com there's a difference and the browser
warns you.

Mozilla delviers a better error message than Internet Explorer; it was
clear then for me.
