To all,

I just went through the whole process with IBM support, and after I deleted
my garbage from earlier tests, I exported my project as a WAR file. Then I
ran the "Create WAR wizard" which actually converts a war file. Then we
tried to access the application and found some missing PTF's.

But the combination of Websphere Development Studio Client 4.0 and Websphere
Application Server 3.5.6 should work together.
