While I can understand not wanting to have to edit yourself every 80 characters, every 1500 or so (more like 3000 with a 132 column display) with a simple "continued?" flag might suffice. It seems to me that if you want to enter more than a screen full of data at a time on a blockmode device, then you're asking for something untenable. Joe
