OK - another 2 centavos put into this... 
        3 years ago buttons versus images - we changed everything to buttons - 
since they acted consistently across browsers... images acted differently, and 
with the 25% of the users using Netscape, the little pointer didn't understand 
that the image was in fact another link.  Now - since there are only 2% 
Netscape users left... and AOL signed up to use Internet Explorer for another 7 
years... it's like a why bother situation...

my two cents....

Sizing a graphic (via image tag) is *not* recommended because the image is 
still the same size....  If you have a 4MB
image (yikes!) and you resize it using the image tag, your user will still have 
to bring down the full, 4MB image.

Better approach is to scale it using some graphic package (don't forget to 
dummy it down... 400 dpi is not required for
the web) and make it smaller...

agreed use something to export the image in the size you want.  that way it 
won't become distorted.

i use fireworks mx and/or photoshop 7.

I'm sure i'm too late already...

At least when the image is larger, you should instead of coding

<input type="image" src="/whatever/OK.gif" width="50" height="50">

resize it with an image-editor. That saves bytes and time and usually
delivers better results than the browser.
