The only reason I included character mode in the description is that as a PC application, it can indeed react to individual keypresses. Especially when Javascript is called into play. The point being that the browser not only interacts (block mode) with the server, but as Nathan pointed out, it also interacts with the desktop. Which is why we want to modify some of it's behaviour whilst retaining the rest! --buck
