I managed to get free for a little while this afternoon so tried using

function fr(num) {document.getElementsByName('AFIELD.007-016') [0].value = num}

as you suggested, and, now, when I double click on a link in NS and in Firefox, the number of the link is put into AFIELD correctly.

Progress!

However, I then have to click on ENTER to submit the form to the AS/400 which is not what I want. With both my old and new code, this is not necessary in IE as this happens as soon as I double click.

This function is more immediately important than buttons so I have not looked at them yet.

Have you any idea why the form is not being submitted?

Once again thanks for you invaluable help.

Rob
